Kokopax Top Choice

After all the results were in, it was clear to see the winner of our top baby rocker tests, all of our parents and experts agreed that the 4moms, mamaRoo, Baby Swing is the best rocking chair of 2017.

This is the rocker for baby that really does it all, and best still it does it all by itself with no need to do anything more than set the controls to whatever mode your baby prefers and even that can be done remotely via its Bluetooth function too.

The chair has a stunning 5 unique motions that you can choose from, all of which we found to be very effective at relaxing and getting our test babies off to sleep. The seats design allows it to recline to any position that you and your baby desire.

Of all the baby bouncers and baby rockers we have tested over the years, there are very few that can claim to recline to more than just a few different positions, whereas this reclining baby seat can be put in any position you want. Both our experts and parents were very impressed with these features as well as the others, such as the inbuilt 4 track music player and once they had got the hang of it, the smart phone remove control app too. The seat is very safe and super comfortable, and our kids loved the overhead toys too.

How to make sure you get the best baby rocker?

A baby rocker can be a wonderful tool to have in your baby arsenal. Though they vary greatly in size and design, the main function of a baby rocker is to provide a safe place for your baby to relax and sleep. A baby rocker will help speed this up by allowing you gently rock your child until it relaxes or gets off to sleep.

Since there are so many different makes and designs of baby rocking chairs on the market, finding the one that best suits your infant and its needs can be a real headache. To help you choose the best baby rocking chair for your infant, we recommend that you spend some time reading well informed articles from reputable websites such as our own.

To help you know what to keep an eye out for, we have included a few points below about the most important parts of a rocker chair.

Motorized or Push rocker

A motorized rocker will incorporate a small, usually lightweight electric motor that it uses to create a hands free rocking motion. Most motorized rockers will be battery and mains operated, so it’s definitely worth checking out how long the battery will last while running unplugged.

Another thing to make sure you checkout is how many different swing motions and speeds the rocker can do, as some designs are very basic, while other can do as many as 5 different swing motions.

A push rocker is one that requires, yes, you guessed it, a push. Some designs use the frame to create a motion while most use the old fashioned rocking chair design to create a rocking motion.

Something that many people forget to look for is whether or not the frame comes with a lock bar to prevent the rocker from moving when you don’t want it to. These locks hold the rocker firmly in place and therefore keep baby safer.

Other things to look out for

You should try to find a rocker with a good solid frame and a comfortable reclining seat for baby to rest in. The more reclining positions the better, but be careful to read up on the chairs recline lock system to make sure it is both strong and safe.

Washable seat fabrics are always a godsend while so is a seat that has a comfortable seat belt or harness. When buying a portable rocker you should be sure to check the weight along with the overall ruggedness of the design, while making sure to see if it is collapsible.

How we review

We take pride in the fact that we are a well-respected, totally independent baby product review site. We work hard to ensure that we offer only impartial reviews of products we test.

Though we test a large number of items for each of our articles, only the ones that score the highest with our parents, their babies and our experts make the list. We don’t accept any financial incentives or rewards for reviewing products favorably, so all the products you see here really are the top rocking chairs out of all the ones we tested.

Editor’s Choice: 4moms, mamaRoo, Baby Swing

4moms, mamaRoo, Baby Swing

If you are looking for the rocking chair for your baby that really does it all, then the mamaRoo baby swing is the one of you. This is the baby rocker that you would see in a movie that is set in the future. Its sleek, almost futuristic design does a lot more than simply looking great too.

The swing seat is amazingly comfortable and easy to clean. The seat itself, thanks to the really innovative design can be reclined to any position that you might desire. But that’s not even the best part; the rocker can swing your child in 5 unique motions that range from a circular motion, to the much more fun ‘car ride’, which seemed to really give our test babies lots of fun.

It comes in a range of nice colors, has an inbuilt music box and can be controlled with your smart phone too. There are so many great features that we suggest that you just take a look for yourself.

We loved this design, it gave our parents hands free rocking power, which is possibly the first time anyone has ever used that phrase, but nonetheless, made it a real winner as far as our parents were concerned. We loved this infant rocker, its movements were a little too gentle for some of our kids, but it for most of our kids it was really great.

For any bored babies it comes with some really cool toys to keep them distracted while in the background, their parents wonder at how it is able to take up such little space compared to other rockers.

Graco Little Lounger Rocking Seat Plus Vibrating Lounger, Ardmore

Graco Little Lounger Rocking Seat Plus Vibrating Lounger, ArdmoreThis design is a lot simpler than the mamaRoo, but to be honest we found it to be almost as effective. Our parents really loved this 2 in 1 design, which can be used as either a rocker or a lounger with the simple adjustment of the seat.

The easy to clean seat has a multi position recline so keeps your little one nice and comfortable, while the inbuilt vibrate feature helps keep them relaxed as well. The seat is also nice and big and has a 3 part safety belt to make sure your little one is also safe.

This design is a lot simpler than the mamaRoo, but to be honest we found it to be almost as effective. Our parents really loved this 2 in 1 design, which can be used as either a rocker or a lounger with the simple adjustment of the seat.

Though there is only one rocking motion, we found it to be stronger than the mamRoo design, so should your baby prefer a little harder swing then this is the one you should choose.

Cons:

  • Many of our parents commentated that the vibration is a little too weak.

Fisher-Price Infant To Toddler Rocker, Dark Safari

Fisher-Price Infant To Toddler Rocker, Dark Safari Review

If you are looking for a great rocker for your child that doesn’t feature a motor, then this was the one our experts recommend. It is a really colorful and fun design that is suitable for newborns up to a staggering 40 pounds.

The chair is nice and comfortable, while our kids seemed to love the great little toys it comes with. Admittedly older children won’t find them so interesting, but no matter what their age, should you strap them in with the chairs 3 point safety harness, there is little chance of them being able to escape, no matter how hard they try.

The seats safety stand was really effective, while the inbuilt vibrations seemed to work really well too. It plays music and even reclines all the way back to make a super comfortable place for your baby to sleep.

Labebe Baby Gift Baby Rocker Plush Animal Elephant

Labebe Baby Gift Baby Rocker Plush Animal Elephant ReviewWe choose this rocker for babies because we thought we would offer you some idea of the more outsider designs that are available on the market today. Though this design didn’t score as highly as some other designs, we loved its unique approach.

This rocker is designed as a fun activity, rather than as a place for baby to relax and sleep. The rocker is designed to look like an elephant and when we first showed this to our kids they seemed overjoyed.

Labebe Baby Gift Baby Rocker Plush Animal Elephant

Though this design didn’t score as highly as some other designs, we loved its unique approach.

Though it is only suitable for kids of 6 months and up, this rocker is a great activity for your baby. You will need to supervise your infant at all times, but once in our babies couldn’t get enough of this great baby rocker, which thanks to the wheels gave them hours of fun trying to push it around while rocking it.

Cons

  • Not suitable for babies under 6 months of age.
  • An activity rocking chair for your baby, not a relaxing or sleep rocker.

Our Top Rocking Chairs for Babies

If you are out to buy a new infant rocking chair, then any of the chairs on this list will more than suffice, providing that they suit your requirements. Our parents loved all the designs and so did their babies too.

Though you will need to make a choice between a motorized or push baby rocker, we are sure that you will be more than happy with whichever top baby rocker from this list you choose.

Are baby rocking chairs safe for newborns?

Believe it or not, this is the most common question we get asked in regards to baby rockers for babies. It is indeed an understandable concern, since in theory any moving seat has the potential to send your baby hurtling out over the horizon out of sight.

The reality is however, that modern baby rocking chairs are incredibly safe and reliable for your infant. Any rocker for your baby that is sold by a reputable company such as Amazon.com will have had to pass strict government safety tests before being allowed to be sold to the general public.

As a result, modern baby rockers are as about as safe as they possibly can be. Many incorporate a range of inbuilt safety features such as seat belts and stand locks to prevent the rocker from moving when you are not supervising it.

Provided that you buy a baby rocker that has been certified as safe for newborns, which comes with extra head and neck supports, then yes, baby rocking chairs are safe for your newborn.

Are baby rocking chairs any good?

Absolutely, baby rocking chairs are a really helpful aid to parents throughout the world today. They mirror the rocking action that parents normally use to get their infant off to sleep and relieve parents by doing the rocking when they are either too tired or need to be getting on with something else rather than holding baby.

Rocking chairs, or rockers as they are not more commonly known, help provide a safe place for baby to relax and sleep while mother and father get on with other things.

Can babies sleep in baby rocking chairs?

Though many rocking chairs are designed to be just that, the fact that your babies might want to take a nap now and again has not been lost on the designers.

To allow your infant to get off to sleep in its rocking chair, many of the designs feature sleep friendly additions such as reclining seats or seats that are fixed in a flatter position.

This means that most baby rocking chairs can be a comfortable place for your little one to sleep without you having to worry about it falling asleep in the wrong position or of its head falling forward and impeding its breathing.
