Best Jogging Strollers

KOKOPAX TOP PICK

After hours and hours of running all over the place pushing baby strollers, we can safely recommend the Burley Design Solstice Jogger, as our top jogging stroller for your baby.

If you are looking for the Ferrari of jogging baby strollers, then this is it. We found it to be incredibly stable and easy to run with, particularly given its adjustable handlebars, which mean that you can adjust it to best suit your height and stride lengths.

Its large, 12 inch rear wheels with their inflatable tires made for not only a smooth ride, but also near effortless pushing and control.

So effective was its design that this was the winner of our ‘crazy off road buggy challenge’, a test which had our team of experts running over fields, marshes and even the side of a mountain, in an effort to win the much converted prize of a 3 day paid weekend.

Our parents loved its easy to use, patented Spring Integrated Technology seat, which provided an excellent safe guard from lose straps. They found its one handed, collapsible design to be the easiest to operate, and also seemed surprised at just how small it managed to fold up to become.

What you should look out for in a top jogging stroller

Buying a jogging stroller is easy. However, buying one that doesn’t start falling to pieces after even a few trips to the park, or worse yet one that doesn’t risk throwing your baby into a ditch after it falls over is more difficult. So to help you to find the best jogging stroller for you and your child, here are a few things to look out for.

Stable and strong design.

In order to try to cut down on weight, most designs of jogging stroller cut corners on the amount of materials used in the design. This can cause the design to not only be less stable, but also make it weaker and more likely to break too.

We STRONGLY recommend that you don’t base your final choice on the products weight, but instead make sure that you focus on the buying a well-made and sturdy design. After all, pushing along a stroller that weighs more will actually help with your workout too.

Adjustable and extendable handlebars

Finding a jogging stroller with both adjustable and extendable handlebars is a real must. Being able to extend the handle bars will allow you to position them to best suit your height, while being able to adjust them, will mean you can position them to best suit your stride length.

Other things to look out for

The ability to fold your stroller away and fit it into a small place is something that is important for most parents. Most of us are not lucky enough to live next to a park, so being able to transport it easily in the car or on bus is something that is vital.

Finding a well-padded seat that comes with a good seat belt system is something that doesn’t need explaining, while a good quality protective canopy to make sure your child is safe from rain and excessive sunshine is also a must.

Kokopax Top Choice: Burley Design Solstice Jogger

Burley Design Solstice Jogger reviewIf you are serious about your jogging and plan to spend a lot of time running with your child, then this is the jogger we recommend. Our tests confirmed what the huge buzz regarding this stroller on the internet is all about; it is truly a great jogger.

It is extremely well designed and stable on even roughest, cross country terrain. The fact that one of our experts fell down the side of a slope and the stroller still remained upright is a real testament to the stability of this jogging stroller.

Our parents loved its 5 point safety belt, which our experts found to be really successful in keeping baby in place and distributing the load of any sudden jolts over baby’s body, thereby greatly reducing the likelihood of bruising.

The seats are well padded for maximum comfort, while they feature Burley’s patented S.I.T system that recoils the straps to prevent them from becoming a danger while hanging. It is very simple to fold away, something that can be done with one hand, and we loved its large zip up storage compartment.

Cons:

  • Seat is not removable to become a travel seat as with other designs

BOB 2016 Revolution FLEX Stroller, Black

BOB 2016 Revolution FLEX Stroller, Black ReviewAnother very sturdy design, this stroller scored very highly on safety and ease of use.

It features an easy swivel front wheel that both our team of experts and our parents found made controlling this stroller when running on rough terrain to be extremely helpful.

What also massively helps stability is this strollers patented suspension system that allows up to 3 inches of travel to really help smooth out those bumps and jumps. It was undoubtedly down to this suspension system that we found this to be the stroller that provided the most comfortable ride to our test babies of all the strollers we reviewed.

Though this design was not as easy to fold up, it still ended up fitting nicely into small spaces. We loved its 9 position adjustable handle bar, though it wasn’t as popular with parents as the Burely design.

BOB 2016 Revolution FLEX Stroller, Black

It features an easy swivel front wheel that both our team of experts and our parents found made controlling this stroller when running on rough terrain to be extremely helpful.

Cons:

  • We found it a little harder to clean the fabrics.
  • You must buy the car seat conversion kit as an extra

Mountain Buggy Terrain Premium Jogging Stroller, Solus

Mountain Buggy Terrain Premium Jogging Stroller, Solus ReviewAnother great 3 wheel design to feature a front swivel wheel, suspension and brakes. This jogging stroller was highly effective in all the tests we put it through. We found it to be nice and stable, while also easy to run with.

Our parents loved its dual braking system that allows you to lock it with your feet, or to operate a progressive braking system, like the one you have in your car, by using the hand brake.

Though all parents admitted that at first this hand brake felt strange to use and a little pointless, after we had let them loose on this stroller for a week or so, they all seemed to swear by it.

We loved the range of extras you can buy for this jogger, including the car seat, duffel bag and the carry cot, though sadly you must pay quite a lot for the pleasure of owning any of them.

This is a superb all round jogger with lots of carry space, and which folds up nice and easily too. What is great is that it also comes in 4 different colors for you to choose from now too.

Mountain Buggy Terrain Premium Jogging Stroller, Solus

This jogging stroller was highly effective in all the tests we put it through. We found it to be nice and stable, while also easy to run with.

Cons:

  • Contains Lead
  • We found it didn’t dry out easily and therefore was prone to smelling if not properly dried.

Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Stroller

Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Stroller ReviewIf you are looking for a super maneuverable design, then this might not be it. Its 3 wheeled design and air filled tires make it a nice ride for baby and more comfortable than most other jogging strollers. If some of the other designs on this list are Ferraris, then this is the Cadillac of jogging strollers.

Its padded, multi-position seat reclines to make your jog even more comfortable for your baby. Though it doesn’t score as well in terms of its maneuverability and general ease while jogging, it is nonetheless still a good jogger. It has a far sturdier design than most other jogging strollers, while its one click connect seat detaches to allow it to be connected to its car base to become a safe car seat.

Our parents love its deluxe handle storage feature, which allows you to store two drinks and your phone safely while on the go. This is probably the most comfortable and luxurious stroller on this list and is a great buy, if you are looking for a good blend between a part time jogger and normal stroller.

Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Stroller

If some of the other designs on this list are Ferraris, then this is the Cadillac of jogging strollers.

Cons

  • Not as good when jogging, feels a little bigger and cumbersome.

This is an invaluable source of information as to any particular products strengths and weaknesses of that product, and could end up saving you from buying something that turns out to be a hunk of junk, as they say.

Is using a jogging stroller safe?

Running along at high speeds while pushing your baby might not be the safest thing you’ve ever done with it, but given how superbly designed and safe modern jogging strollers actually are, the chance of your baby getting hurt have been dramatically reduced.

We recommend sticking to running in parks or on well-made tracks, rather than off-road. This will reduce the chance of your stroller hitting any particularly uneven ground, or the wheels slipping into any holes where they might case your stroller to jolt or even tip over.

On the hole, running with any top quality stroller is very safe, and we only hear of a few accidents now and then.
