Vtech DM221 Safe & Sound

VTech DM221 Baby MonitorIf you are looking for an audio-only baby monitor which is easy to use and set up, but still incorporates many of the features of its high-tech competition, this is the one for you!

The real advantage with this Vtech monitor is the interface. It strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and detail. With some more complex monitors, you will spend time looking through endless on-screen menus to find the option you desire.

With this monitor, there is no such hassle. If you want to put the volume up, push the clearly labeled button on the front!

And like all the best monitors on the market today, it uses DECT connection technology. Although it is now standard, this technology was revolutionary when it emerged, and if you are used to older monitors the sound quality and connection reliability will be a real surprise.

PROS
  • The 5-level sound monitor, which is indicated by graphic bars on the parent unit, means you can easily see the sound level in your child’s room. This is perfect if you have a small house, are dancing to loud music in the living room, and want to know if you should turn the stereo down!
  • Like many monitors, the DM221 comes with two-way communication. Sometimes, all your child needs is to hear the sound of your voice, and talking to them remotely is perfect if you don’t want to get out of bed in the middle of the night!
  • The simplicity of this monitor means that the battery life is second to none. The incorporated battery provides up to 18 hours on a single charge, and you can also use AAA batteries.
  • The clip-on feature is also great. Clip the monitor to your belt, and your hands will be free to do whatever – perfect if you are pottering in the garden whilst your little one takes a snooze!
CONS
  • Let’s face it, the DM221 is not going to win any beauty pageants! The no-nonsense design means that the monitor looks a bit dorky, but this is the price you pay for the intuitive interface!
